A geriatrician is a physician who specializes in the assessment and management of health care needs for people over the age of 65.   A geriatrician works closely with other health care professionals and organizations, including other physicians, therapists, home care agencies, pain clinics and support groups, to meet the specific needs of each patient.  Both the patient and his or her family are integral members of the health care team.
