"I'm an active gardener and an exercise walker, but when the pain in my shoulder became almost constant, I knew I needed help. Fortunately, my family physician referred me to Dr. Hedlund who did a full diagnosis before recommending PT (physical therapy) and, finally, surgery. The outpatient laparoscopic procedure was explained to me in great detail, so I didn't feel any anxiety on the day of my operation. In fact, the entire experience was just wonderful. mmpc has a great facility and the staff and nurses were as helpful and concerned as if they were my own family. After the operation, there was minimal pain and discomfort. More importantly, I am completely pain-free now! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Dr. Hedlund and mmpc Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine to anyone!"

"After the injury to my shoulder, I could no longer play the piano and organ. I experienced so much pain at night that I couldn't even sleep. Because I work in health care, finding doctors isn't a problem, but I went to Dr. Hedlund because he came very highly recommended by a former patient of his. On my first visit, I was especially impressed because he took the time to make certain I didn't feel like "just another patient." My examination was extremely thorough and he explained each of his findings as we went along. His knowledge of the subject made me feel very safe and completely confident in his abilities. The day of my surgery couldn't possibly have gone any better than it did. Today, I am playing piano and organ again and I am 100% pain free."

"I injured my knee on two separate occasions and kept thinking it would get better by itself. But it didn't. After two months the pain became so severe that I couldn't play golf or water ski with my children. Walking itself was even becoming a problem. That's when my family doctor referred me to Dr. Hedlund. My informative first meeting with him led to an MRI and a diagnosis of "torn ligament." He recommended physical therapy at first, but my knee wasn't responding, so I decided on the surgery. The procedure went well and I was especially pleased with the pain management techniques ... there was almost no post-operative pain, whatsoever. I began walking within three days using a brace and crutches, and now I've even resumed playing golf. Dr. Hedlund not only took care of the problem itself in a smooth and professional manner, he also managed my recovery very well."

"I've walked out of doctors' offices where they treated me like a slab of meat on the examining table, but my experience with Dr. Hedlund and his staff - especially his physician assistant Kevin Vardon - was unlike anything I've experienced before. After breaking my right leg in a winter accident, I was eventually referred to mmpc Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. During my initial visit, Dr. Hedlund was not only helpful and concerned, he actually took the time to talk to me at length about the nature of my injury and the specifics of the surgery he recommended to correct it properly. The day of my operation couldn't possibly have gone any better. After my arrival, I went immediately into surgery and everyone on staff was genuinely friendly, supportive and informative. I was pain-free from moments after the procedure and have remained so. That was in March 2007 and I'm thrilled to say I was able to compete in a triathlon in August 2007. Would I recommend Dr. Hedlund and his remarkable staff at mmpc Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine to others? Without hesitation!"

"My son Matt fractured his humerus (upper arm bone between his shoulder and elbow) in a snowboarding accident. The Emergency Room staff at Spectrum Butterworth referred us to Dr. Hedlund at mmpc Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. The x-rays showed that it was a very clean break and Dr. Hedlund recommended surgery to correct the problem. Everything went fine and Matt is on the mend now, but I can't say enough about the courtesy and professionalism of Dr. Hedlund's staff. Everyone from the nurses to the administrative personnel is simply outstanding. The Physician's Assistant (PA), Kevin Varden, in particular went out of his way to establish a bond with my son and explain everything he needed to know both before and after surgery. They even did an excellent job of coordinating the post-operative physical therapy for us. We've had good experiences with other orthopaedic surgeons in the past, but we absolutely LOVED Dr. Hedlund and his staff ... they're fantastic!"
